How Do I Get From Punta Cana Airport to Hyatt Zilara?
You've Just Booked Your Stay at the Hyatt Zilara
You've just booked your stay at the Hyatt Zilara and couldn't be more excited! Going to the Dominican Republic is going to be so much fun! You begin thinking about sitting beachside at this fantastic, unique, adults-only, all-inclusive resort. You are ready for the perfect experience! That is, until you start to stress about how to get to the Hyatt Zilara after arriving at the airport. So please don't worry about how you'll get there once you've landed. This article will tell you everything you need and more about getting to the Hyatt Zilara from Punta Cana airport.
From the Airport to the Hyatt Zilara
When you land at Punta Cana airport, you will be eager to get to the Hyatt Zilara immediately. There are endless airport transportation options at the Punta Cana airport. I want to explore these options to determine which suits you best.
Shuttles, Taxis, and Transfers
Taxi and shuttle services are available when you arrive. Taxis are safe in the Dominican Republic, but booking a taxi at the airport can be stressful. When you enter the sun, the operators and hustlers shout for your attention; you won't know who to choose.
The Hyatt Zilara is located about 25 minutes away from the airport. For a hassle-free experience, you can just book a private transfer from the airport to the resort. Booking an airport transfer in advance will save you time and money. In addition, a pre-booked airport transfer is the best way to ensure an easy arrival. As soon as you arrive, your private transfer will be waiting for you with a sign that has your name on it. Your driver will take you right to the Hyatt Zilara.
A one-way trip from the airport to Hyatt Zilara should cost around $27 for up to six people. Of course, if you need a bigger vehicle to accommodate more people, prices will increase. The Hyatt Zilara does not have a shuttle service. Instead, their local partner charges $45 for a private transfer that accommodates 1-4 guests, a steep price for an airport transfer.
You can also find luxury transfers available for higher prices. A luxury transfer averages $60 per trip and entails a VIP vehicle, an English-speaking driver, and beer and water on arrival.
Shared Punta Cana Shuttles
Shared shuttles are less recommended while traveling to the Hyatt Zilara. The Hyatt Zilara's local partners do not offer shared transportation, so you must book a shared transfer with another company. Amstar, a local company, charges USD 54 for a round-trip shared shuttle for two guests, the exact cost of a private shuttle for up to 6 guests.
Buses, Motorbikes, and Rental Cars
Buses
If you're traveling light, consider taking a local bus (gua gua) to the resort. Unfortunately, there is no space for suitcases at the airport. As you know, I can tell you that bus maps are available at stands around the airport; please note there is no direct bus from the Punta Cana Airport to the Hyatt Zilara. The bus would drop you off at the main gate of Cap Cana; from there, you would still need to take a taxi from the gate to the Hyatt Zilara property, which is a 10-minute drive. While this method is highly economical, more convenient and luxurious options exist.
Rental Cars
Cars are also available for rental at the airport by all major car rental companies. However, it is not recommended to rent a car because driving can be chaotic, especially in the cities. Also, car rentals are incredibly pricey and jacked up with hidden fees at the airport. Yet, it is another consideration if you plan an extended stay in Punta Cana and have experience driving with little rule-following.
Motorcycle Taxis
Motorcycle taxis, called motoconchos, are popular in the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately, there is no way to get a Motorcycle Taxi at the airport, making them an impractical option for airport transfers.
Uber in Punta Cana
Uber is also available in Punta Cana. Just to let you know, you should not call an Uber from the airport or the resort. Due to local disagreements, Uber is not welcomed by taxi drivers; also, Ubers are not allowed into the resort, so you would need to stay at the gate of the Hyatt Zilara and wait for a golf cart for the remainder of the ride. If you call an Uber in an area with a taxi stand or high traffic, an argument can break out between the Uber and taxi drivers. Thus, using Uber is not a safe choice in Punta Cana.
Staying at the Hyatt Zilara
As one of the highest-rated resorts in Punta Cana, the Hyatt Zilara will be the ultimate vacation. It is packed with a Zip-Line course, natural Cenotes (Lagoons inside of caves), animal interactions, and plenty more. If Scape Park isn't for you, there are fishing trips, whale watching, catamaran tours, and buggies.
Scape Park
Scape Park! is a natural theme park in Cap Cana, a short distance from the Hyatt Zilara. The park offers various activities, including zip-lining through the jungle, exploring ancient caves, and swimming in cenotes. Its various outdoor activities provide an adrenaline rush for adventure seekers. Animal lovers can enjoy interactions with different species, including exotic birds and reptiles. The park is a great way to experience the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Dominican Republic.
Fishing Trips
Punta Cana is known for its excellent fishing opportunities. You can book a fishing trip to catch various fish in the Caribbean waters. Whether you are a seasoned angler or a beginner, options are available for all skill levels. Fishing charters often include all necessary equipment and guidance from experienced fishermen. This activity provides a unique way to enjoy the beautiful Caribbean Sea and potentially catch your dinner!
Whale Watching
Depending on the season, whale-watching tours are available, providing a unique opportunity to see these magnificent creatures up close. Humpback whales migrate to the waters off the Dominican Republic's coast between January and March. During this time, you can take a boat tour to observe these gentle giants in their natural habitat. It's an awe-inspiring experience and a highlight for many visitors.
Catamaran Tours
Enjoy a day on the water with a catamaran tour. These tours often include snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing on a beautiful beach. Catamaran tours provide a luxurious way to explore the coastline, with opportunities to see marine life and enjoy the stunning scenery. Many tours include food and drinks, making for a perfect day on the water.
Buggies
For an adrenaline rush, consider booking a buggy tour. These off-road adventures take you through the Dominican countryside, offering a thrilling way to see the local scenery. Buggy tours often include stops at local villages, beaches, and natural attractions. It's a fun and exciting way to explore areas off the beaten path.
